SUMMARY KEYWORDSpeople, super bowl, baltimore, talking, place, love, maui, ravens, team, sit, crabs, road, drive, week, heard, watching, run, restaurants, reservation, hollywood casinoSPEAKERSNestor J. Aparicio, Leonard Raskin Nestor J. Aparicio  00:00Whoo. Welcome home we are wn st Towson, Baltimore and Baltimore positive we are positively making waves here on the backside of another Super Bowl that we didn’t win and Patrick mahomes One. I’m not doing a lot of live radio this week for any of you heard I have about 78 pieces that I’m going to be platforming out of Baltimore positive of incredible causes. i This is gonna be the one segment this week where I don’t cry. There’s no chance of that. Maybe I’ll cry with joy because of this. But so I’m working on a whole new script letter Rascon cannot Can I give you my new script? I’m all in alright, because I’ve seen you know, I’ve had some communications people around and I’m trying to like, first thing I’m trying to enact folks to set us on their radio dial because you came on before we came on, you’re like, Hey, how was the week successful like, well, it only ran on live radio to anybody that heard it had to been listening live. There was no other way to get it right. So either on the Listen Live, because I hadn’t gotten to YouTube until Superbowl Sunday and it hasn’t made it to the website. Nobody has shared it. None of these awesome groups of charities and military and dogs and cats and people and friends and and children and abused women and men who need a home and shall like all the things that I did military. I did all this stuff last week. None of it is out yet because I’m stopping everything. To have you on to discuss why so here’s I’m going to do the new reset. You’re ready. Leonard Raskin  01:28I’m ready. Nestor J. Aparicio  01:29Oh no. Let me get a little drink in my royal farms. Justin Tucker. Coffee from my coal roofing mug. All right, here we go. And by the way, Bill Cole. He brought me two young ladies from Southwest Baltimore to talk about their school blew my mind. Alright. Welcome back. Alright getting back to the actual letter asking us Rascon Global’s that pretty good was that that’s beautiful. I tried that for John Pierre. And by the way, here’s here’s my little plug for you. I did carry my my Richard shared around a little bit for you. You are freshly back from Maui Bye, but I go up on my Facebook. They showed up on my wife’s Facebook Sunday before the Super Bowl. So we’re like having a little little leftover crab soup from State Fair, actual half an hour. Thank you very much. Evany Keith and Kirby. So we’re there. I see your pictures. I saw you with a mama’s fish house for your anniversary. Happy anniversary. How was that good? Leonard Raskin  02:48It was great. You know what I didn’t know. And I knew this. About a week before we left. You’re supposed to make a reservation there six months in advance. In Place is is happening packed. It’s a beautiful view. It’s an amazing place. The service was over the top and says reservation so I went on and it said no reservations till June. Like really? I gotta Nestor J. Aparicio  03:16go there on my recommendation majority should have no but it’s pretty well, we had heard about Leonard Raskin  03:19it, but you recommended it and we had heard about it other places. I said, Okay, we gotta we gotta get there. We got to get there. So Nestor J. Aparicio  03:26I mean, it’s a really hotsy Tajci play. Yeah. He there was Mike silver. Just so you know how you wound up there? Yeah. If you end up because of me, Mike silver 40 Niners writer just covered the Super Bowl. He said he went to send me there 10 years ago. Yeah. So Leonard Raskin  03:40So yeah, we went and we sent an email told him it was our 30th anniversary. Wanted to get in, and we’re hoping to get a spot. And they didn’t reply, of course, because they don’t care. Well, it’s not they don’t care. They’re busy enough and full, it didn’t matter. So anyway, we finished out our day. And we drove up there, we had a rental car, pull into the lot, realized real quickly, it’s only valet parking. So you can’t like sneak a spot. You pull up to the Little Rock and they take to the valet dude says Do you have reservation? And I said no. But we’re hoping to sit at the bar, which I heard you could do sit at the bar. And the menu at the bar is the same as the restaurant, you just have to sit and instead of looking at each other. You’re looking at a bartender and you turn your head to the right or the left to see each other. Nestor J. Aparicio  04:28And that can be a romantic as well. I’ve met people at bars like like, I meet nice people at bar. That’s right. Leonard Raskin  04:35So that’s like, that’s where I met my wife 30 years ago, so 31 years ago, so what the heck, we’ll give it a shot. So we pull in, they parked the car, we go to the maitre d and they say, We have your name on the list. We’d love to have you for dinner. Give us some time and we’ll see where we can seat you. Okay, great. So we wait at about 15 minutes goes by they call our name and instead of sitting at the bar facing the bartender, we sit at a high atop across from the bar looking at each other. So we had a lovely table the only difference was we didn’t have a table in the formal dining room area. We had the bar area but I got news for you exactly the same service was over the top food was fantastic. View was outstanding. We got there at 430 ish. We were there for the sunset over the water. We’ve got amazing pictures. It was a great time. Nestor J. Aparicio  05:30That’s why your lovely night telling people I was crying a river for you. As I was sitting in Pappas on Friday. I shouted you out all day and sent me to my heartbreaks that he couldn’t be with us. All right, and I’m saying empowering people to choose their financially. So when you see like, I don’t want to listen, I watch the Super Bowl up at Hollywood casino people here really hate the chiefs. Right? Like and that’s normal. We hated the Yankees when they beat us we you know you hate the team that the Steelers whoever it is, beat you Tom Brady. Leonard Raskin  05:58You gotta beat the best so they’re now the gold standard that we got to get past Nestor J. Aparicio  06:02I got nothing to hate on them. But the whole love story. It’s a love story, baby. Just say yes. I I want to say for all have that. Like, isn’t that the great story of like, the you know, your anniversary and Taylor Swift? Leonard Raskin  06:20I hope they’re, I hope they are happy together. And if they end up together, God bless, you know, people like, why is she shown on the TV so much? Well, because little girls are watching and they want their eyes on all those ads. So the more they can show her, the more the ads are going to sell and they’re very happy. Like, I don’t know what that one ad was on the game. UmI or up or whatever it was for the shop like a billionaire. I think that’s owned by the Chinese Communist Party. I think it’s gonna make China a lot more money. Whatever it is, it’s like, I don’t know, there’ll be billionaires. But these companies spend a lot of money for ads and they want Swifties watching them. So they couldn’t be more happy. And the director says, hey, you know if I can get her on the screen after Travis does something good for us? Because she wasn’t on for hours. She’s on for a smack. And you see that? Two second shot you think she was on all night? Well, I Nestor J. Aparicio  07:16have a different perspective on it because I went to Hollywood Casino. Yeah, dig if you will. This weren’t Perry. Phil up there. My wife and I took the back rode up into Harford County. Yeah, across Harford road with Conowingo. We saw bald eagles, you know. So we went a little Eagle tour. Let’s acro took the 222 back down the pairs. We went through Port deposit, which, I mean, if you’ve never been to port deposit, you should go it’s yeah. Cool, quaint little town, right. So we pull in and we play a little blackjack. And we sat at the bar and they had a buffet and was lovely people fans were there guy went on my funny side of Belmont bus. 20 years ago, we had lottery winners, Maryland lottery, the whole thing. So I look up. It’s crazy. Man. You There were children there at the party? Because it’s not in the casino, right? sequestered, right. It used to be a green turtle. It’s now the sports bar sports book at at Hollywood Casino. And so they had on the big screen above me. The Nickelodeon feed. Oh, yeah. So I got to watch like, and it was in about two second delay. So you could get replay, your knee went down or the ball? Yeah, I can look up and see it on Nickelodeon. It was crazy, dude, because at one point, I looked up. Just say what you’re saying that we’ll talk football in the Orioles. And I definitely want to know if you had any coconut cream pie or banana. The whole time of a nick. No, no, no, there was a point where they showed her and then they show he caught the first pass in the French Quarter. Right, right. One yard thing? Yeah, they showed him on the bench and they drew a big pink heart around Oh, and now and the Chiron said, Taylor Swift’s boyfriend. Leonard Raskin  09:01There you go. You’re watching Nickelodeon? Who’s watching the game on Nickelodeon. Besides you and Nestor J. Aparicio  09:07my wife keeps looking up say Nate Burleson just got slimed again. You know what I mean? So good. Might be a way to watch a Super Bowl and Leonard Raskin  09:18bright well, even if you do if your kids don’t care if you got little girls and little kids and they want to watch it on Nick at Night, man, what could be better? Listen, Nestor J. Aparicio  09:27I’ll tell you what would be really cool about it. You know if Matthew ever has grandkids maybe this is this. I’m not kidding about this. I watched it and what I’m not listening to because we’re getting Romo. But I’m seeing it and I’m seeing graphics. And when a guy would drop a ball, it would say up there. Gotta gotta grasp it a little tighter. It was like advice, right? Like that. If you’re a kid playing that this is the how to play better, you know? Dude, you know, like, so it’s kind of time Are you hey, you’re at the end of the Mani brothers every Monday night. I Leonard Raskin  10:03like it. I don’t need to I don’t need to hear these guys to enjoy football but I love listening to the Manning brothers because they are funny as hell. Right and so it’s hysterical watching them and listening to them talk about what’s going on in the game and have their guests on that’s what’s good stuff. Well, Nestor J. Aparicio  10:20you’re about to get Tom Brady now you know that right Tom Brady’s about to go into the industry? Yeah, Leonard Raskin  10:24what’s he Where’s he gonna be? Nestor J. Aparicio  10:26It’s gonna be the number one guy on Fox. They’re like, Okay, I Leonard Raskin  10:28was gonna say whose job does he take? They’re Nestor J. Aparicio  10:30kicking out Olson Olson is gonna move to number two. Because all the rest of them are gone now Romo, right? Leonard Raskin  10:38Yes. Yeah, they’re all gone. Well, Nestor J. Aparicio  10:42I saw some more Hawaii before we saw Leonard Raskin  10:44the NFL in the stream. I saw the NFL is gonna stream playoffs on is it on Amazon? sometime next year. They’re gonna start streaming some other place you’re gonna have to subscribe man there Nestor J. Aparicio  10:55in Brazil now and Madrid. Right? Right. Well, hey, Leonard Raskin  10:58if you watched if you watch the Superbowl, you saw commercials about African NFL teaching kids in Africa, how to be running backs or whatever it was that they were showing. So hey, they make it a global brand and Raskin. Global’s ready to help people with their global money. We’re all set. And we spent a weekend change anniversary in Hawaii and beautiful Maui. We ate like we were going to the chair. You only see that on vacation. I don’t I don’t know how much weight I put on because I didn’t have the the sense to weigh myself before I left but I know about what it was. And I’m sure I came back five more thanks for shrinking in the closet. Right right. The clothes are getting tighter. I think something’s happening. The shrink. The closet is definitely going on. Because Because we this was my kind of vacation. So you know, we’ve talked about the last couple of years. We did a little Europe vacation and we traipsed all over the place, cathedrals and castles and government buildings and all over how many six seven countries just Yeah, it was it was big. And then we did the Alaska tour. We did the the cruise and land and we were touring and going and doing and everything. So so I put this trip together. This was me. Not the wife, not the boy. And this was going to Maui for the anniversary. And out of 10 Well, 10 days we had to travel so we had eight days in country. Eight days on the land. And I’ll tell you what, we spent four of those by the pool and on the beach. i My goal was a total veg out vacation. I saw your luau pictures. They were Yeah, we did just that man. We we did nothing. It was fantastic. And so we had a car. We did the road to Hana. I did not drive the road to Hana. We did it in a tour bus tour back to Nestor J. Aparicio  12:53no bueno. No, no, no, my wife took this and we’ve been twice now we did like eight days. And then we did what we did seven days first time in like nine days the second time never done it. Now we started to do it last time and I didn’t like it. I didn’t like the locals being jerks about driver driver, we Leonard Raskin  13:15were in a 10 person van picked us up 630 in the morning. And we spent the day we stopped at the waterfalls and we got to go out into the water and we got beautiful pictures. And then we went to the black sand beach and spent an hour having lunch and out on the beach. It was beautiful. We had a great time. But here’s the thing, that driver, he says here, here’s what’s gonna happen, you’re going to look for this license plate because this is the letter that denotes rental car. And and what you’re going to do is as we drive out to Hana, you’re going to look at the cars coming the other way. And then later as we come back, you’re going to look at the cars and what you’re going to want to figure out is honeymoon or divorce. He said people that drive this by themselves. It’s either they’re very happy and they’re in love, or they’re ready to kill each other. This road has I don’t know what they said 600 turns or something. Nestor J. Aparicio  14:12Yeah, it’s just a really tragic, it is really small or that Oh, it’s just there’s nothing on it. It’s kind of pretty at points, but it’s not pretty enough to be true. Like I said the Gen to drive a treacherous road. That’s pretty drive route one out in California cific goes like it’s treacherous, but it’s magnificent. Yeah, this is not as pretty Scott, Leonard Raskin  14:39it’s got to hit stops a half a dozen stops maybe along the way. The good news is with the tour, you don’t have to figure out where to stop and the guy knows how to drive it because he does it four days a week. And and it was a great day. We had a great time. So but but I will tell you this my wife’s got it like listen, listen, listen, we’re in a 10 person I Nestor J. Aparicio  15:00begged her to get on. Leonard Raskin  15:04Kathy and I are sitting in the back of a 10 person van and at a couple that’s in the second row, and a woman in the third row vomited. Well, close to the driver said, let me know if you’re getting sick. We’ll pull over. I don’t want you to get sick in the car. I got bags. So he pulled over, they got some air they put these little dot things on behind their ears rest and ride. And they were okay. They recovered. They were okay with Dramamine. Like yeah, whatever. Yeah, two of them were sick. It didn’t bother me at least because I drive like a maniac. So it was my kind of road anyway. And Kathy said, Kathy said, I can’t get sick. I’ve been driving with you for 30 years. Come on. So we went we had a blast. It was a great day. It was a beautiful day. And so we spent the whole day but it is, it is seven it was nine hours now not in the band the whole time in and out and sightseeing. And man, we went to Turtle Beach. Have you ever been to Turtle Beach? Right? Yeah. Mama’s Yeah, your mama’s and we there’s 5060 Giant serpents, hairpins on the on the beach. It was beautiful. It was an unbelievable scene. I can’t believe they were there and I can’t believe they. It’s controlled like they’re in this area. They don’t venture away. They come back all the time. It’s where they live. Very bizarre. Very cool, though. And so we went to great restaurants. We had the sugar. What was the Sugar Shack whatever it was donuts. We did the donuts. Below shave ice. Did little did a lot of fish. A lot of fish. A lot of seafood. You know the local fish, a lot of macadamia nut everything. A lot of seafood lobster dishes and clams and whatever. What else? Weather right. The weather was perfect. It was 80 degrees. Sunny, beautiful breeze. We had one day that rain. We went to the shops that one day that it rained, but every other every other day was perfect. Sunny at breeze, beautiful. Letter Nestor J. Aparicio  17:05Rasky talking some Hawai he was actually on the island Maui where the hyena happened and the NFL was wearing the helmets. Yeah, you see this? Like, I’ve been to Hawaii twice. I did the Wahoo I first time drove around and then I did Maui twice. I’ve never been to any of the other islands. It is it’s incredibly obvious when you spend time there. how passionate they are about the game of football. Football. You know, you don’t see baseball, soccer pitches. It’s a football. I’m gonna say country, but stay. Yeah. Feels like you’re somewhere else. But America and it’s definitely aloha and different. But I mean, the hyena thing. That’s a place my wife and I love. It’s a place to sit here. It’s a place we were at 10 months ago. It’s a place we kept going back to because we like we’ve been there we love it. Let’s go there and have happy hour. Let’s go there and have dinner. We fell in love with this little Italian place. That was it. It was in a strip mall a block off the way, but we fell in love with it. And all Chris burned to the ground we think. I Leonard Raskin  18:07mean, we talked to some people, they’re the only thing that was left. Here’s what they said. They said the only thing left in a lot of these buildings. You know, most of them have nothing left. But some of them had the fireplace standing. Go figure that right after the fire fireplace still standing. And they said at some of the restaurants, the steel table, you know the base of the table. The pole was standing up so they had poles all over the floor. From the restaurant like the steel poles from the floor to the table we’re standing but it was devastated. I mean, the pictures are horrible. On the TV, they constantly run ads about how to if you want to go there as a tourist how to go there, what to see what not to do. But what’s what’s really amazing what I found really amazing Nestor was where we were in Wailea and where we went while we were there. We heard over and over again from the whether it was the restaurants or the driver on the road to Hana or just folks that we were talking to in the hotel, etc. that people aren’t coming that the tourism the the community you know, it’s so down because people think Maui burned you know, they think the whole island burned and behind Nestor J. Aparicio  19:31behind it was a place you couldn’t even really stay you’re in right like right Airbnb shops and it was like, right yeah, Leonard Raskin  19:41I mean, and that’s gone but the rest of the island man they’re open for business and I you know, I don’t need to do a commercial for Maori but it is. I mean, it’s we we went we did a sunset sale, and we’re watching demand, we were Even humpbacks coming out of the water. So you know I Nestor J. Aparicio  20:02saw it from the clip. I mean I saw it but I didn’t see it out of the water right? I see people out there do all day. It’s not my jam, doing Leonard Raskin  20:11all day, doing all day but we did a dinner thing it was two and a half hours. It was perfect. Big catamaran. Good alcohol, good dinner, good food, lots of friends, meet new friends I love met a bunch of people and sunset. I don’t have to tell you the sunset. And there’s over two waters just just perfect. And so a great time was had by all let’s let Nestor J. Aparicio  20:35Raskin is here. I want to bring this thing full circle because I mean, look, we could sit here cry about the ravens and pitch about the Chiefs or whatever. Baseball with you because I think that was certainly like your first Leonard Raskin  20:44pitchers and catchers and and catchers coming in. Well, I Nestor J. Aparicio  20:49mean, the new ownership coming in. Yes. How Leonard Raskin  20:51about that anything else I had been tipped to. Mr. Rubin, Rubinstein. Rubenstein. Nestor J. Aparicio  20:56I think Stein. Okay, not, not sure it’s fine hedge fund guy nine, fund guy Leonard Raskin  21:03made a bunch of money from Baltimore. Buying the team. I told you when we spoke over all the stadium stuff that I thought it was, it was possible. They were certainly talking about it that they denied they were talking about it, but go figure that Angeles wouldn’t tell the truth. But then the thing that again, as I said to you struck me a lot of taxes to be paid unless they figured out some way not to pay him on sale to the team while Peters still alive. So very interesting. I would like to see the behind the scenes structure of the deal. But if I’m Nestor J. Aparicio  21:37guessing that’s a percentage that the Angelus family stays in the deal until such point when dad expires but gives up control and I don’t know how they have 30% so sell enough of the percentage to give Rubinstein because there’s another 30% outside the control of Angelo so I think the way it was gonna be done was 4030 30. Until such point like Steve with art modell saying, right five year balloon or whatever it is, yeah, Leonard Raskin  22:08whatever it is, it’s not my issue and you know, 1.7 billion you pay the taxes and life goes on today. So Nestor J. Aparicio  22:14we need to know who’s running it and how and what that’s right. What are they? Leonard Raskin  22:17What are they gonna do about the team? That’s exactly right. That’s what we care about. And, and we made a trade for Hi, high end, starting pitcher. There’s rumor they’re going after another one. Very interesting. Now is the time and you got the kids ready to come up. You got the kids that already came up? I’m looking for we’ll Nestor J. Aparicio  22:38imagine that here’s a screen here in November. Like you seriously ready you imagine if the ravens are five and three and there’s a parade here in first week in November five, three, gets it done. It’d Leonard Raskin  22:50be five and three, they’re gonna be eight. No. Okay, fair enough. six and two. I mean, come on, give him the benefit of the doubt. They would. I was listening to the postgame on the Superbowl. And one of the guys it was it was very interesting. One of the chiefs players said, you know, we had to win, we had to go to Buffalo and beat buffalo. He said that we had to go to Baltimore beat the best team in the league. And I think they were the best team in the league and the MVP. I mean, there’s no excuse they lost because they were out coached, apparently, clearly. And I almost saw it in the Super Bowl. San Francisco decided they wanted to not run. I don’t know why Kansas City ain’t that good against the run, but they decided they didn’t want to use McCaffrey, who only had like, I don’t know, 160 yards could have had 300 If they kept giving him the ball. But hey, you know, I was a fascinating Nestor J. Aparicio  23:39Super Bowl man, Stratego start and then really like revved up and became like high stakes poker all the way through decisions made over time, fourth and three. Yeah, like all sorts of things going off Leonard Raskin  23:54the rails. It was a great game. It was a it was a game of football, chess, they were they were working. And I think fourth and 1/4 and one for the chiefs in overtime. I said to my wife before they even came out of that huddle. I said mahomes ain’t giving up that ball. Nobody’s touching that ball but him and he went ran for 15 yards or 1820 whatever it was to know what nobody’s touching. Imagine fourth and one overtime ravens and Lamar not running for the first time. Come on. That’s right. Right. So So mahomes He he made it happened the dude is right now the gold standard. Let’s face it, but we have the Orioles we have spring training coming. We’re done with the snow are done with the snow enough winter. Winter is over we had our eight inches Nestor J. Aparicio  24:43or was the guy who was in a why for 10 days. Leonard Raskin  24:46Right right. I’m done with winter. Although you know I don’t care. I love him. And Nestor J. Aparicio  24:51now he’s weather right now I gotta figure this sunny. Setting Leonard Raskin  24:55an ad it is five hours behind which rich would you don’t tell people Well, you’re going to Maui, because it’s like, you know, you want to just go on vacation, and they decide to call your cell phone at 330 in the morning, I do, what are they doing? Because it’s 830. Here, leave you alone. Most people know that I don’t do 830 In the morning anyway, right? But when I’m in Malyon, is 330 Wow. Letter Nestor J. Aparicio  25:20did I not text you and say you’re, it’s three in the morning for you right now to your body. And hey, listen, I’ll give you a little homework here. And you can give me a minute on it now, but think it through, you really want to see from the new owners. What Leonard Raskin  25:34I want to see, I want to see community. I mean, that’s, that’s simple. I want to see the team, I want to see the team be a winner. And they’re moving in that direction. Because the baseball peoples let the baseball people do baseball. I don’t want to see the owners do community. Look, we have a gym. This thing called Camden Yards, by all accounts is the best stadium in the league. And I haven’t been to all of them. But I’ve been to there. And it’s magnificent. And why? How could you own this, this team and this gem and not be out in the city? Now? I don’t know if it clearly wasn’t them. And I know you have your issues with the Ravens now. I get it. But at the end of the year, the ravens brought in Cal Ripken to be the captain of the team the day or whatever it was that he was. And they brought in. Mr. Hyde. Not Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde and and Adam Jones and and has always participated but I’m just saying they brought in eight guys, they brought in I think eight or 10 Guys during the playoff game and introduced them to the crowd. The crowd went crazy. Why Nestor J. Aparicio  26:46of course they did team 101 game right. That’s right, right. That’s right. So Leonard Raskin  26:50let’s use this asset. And let’s talk about Baltimore. Nestor J. Aparicio  26:52It’s always better to utilize Leonard Raskin  26:56her Patrick mahomes on the Super Bowl and Travis Kelce on the Super Bowl. Now I know you just won the game and all that but they’re talking about Kansas City greatest fans in the world greatest city in America. That’s what you need. You need ownership to engage the community and say, you know, this is this is Baltimore This is Maryland. I know they can’t say the hell with the Nationals. But who cares about the Nationals man, Nestor J. Aparicio  27:21attaboy, Spoken like a real Baltimorean Leonard Raskin  27:24this year didn’t like the Redskins. I don’t like the nationals who carry Nestor J. Aparicio  27:27the way this thing such a hit when I show it off. It is the it’s the Raskin global crab mallet. It has Leonard Raskin  27:35the quintessential can everybody Nestor J. Aparicio  27:37that sees that like Oh, I gotta get one of those. You know, Leonard, I’m doing the show at cost Tuesday. It’s like lunchtime at 1230. And my son was there all day. They’ve sort of made her DJing and producing and whatnot. We were talking about this great piece they did on the cost of the American dream. Mr. Costas came over $5 in his pocket right past this, you know, the whole deal, right? And there’s a vice network thing. But anyway, so today, I’m doing some charity thing with a church group and I’m getting weepy eyed. Because yeah, and I hear she and I look up and I’m like, crab house, man.
