The 25th day of the Maryland Crab Cake Tour presented by The Maryland Lottery, Goodwill, Window Nation and the Restaurant Association of Maryland led us on the ice cream path to Weis Markets dairy facility in Sunbury, Pennsylvania on a gorgeous day for a drive and a stop at Friendly Farms in Upperco and a beer nearby at Big Truck in Hereford. Nothing like eating fresh ice cream soft served off the line!

Maryland Crab Cake (and Brewery) Tour Day 24: Eldersburg love of 1823 and old friends at Liberatore’s

The 22nd day of the Maryland Crab Cake Tour presented by The Maryland Lottery, Goodwill, Window Nation and the Restaurant Association of Maryland was spent in Eldersburg with an incredible local journey with old friends. Mike McKelvin and Dante Liberatore own a restaurant and brewing company and shared their Carroll County life with Nestor. And John Maroon stopped by for three decades of sports tales about Cal Ripken Jr. and walking the Great Wall of China and the streets of Beijing together. Lots of delicious 1823 beer here and a toast to the late, great Vince Bagli and Chris Thomas.

Maryland Crab Cake (and Brewery) Tour Day 23: Black Flag in Columbia and the delicious Timbuktu experience

The 23rd day of the Maryland Crab Cake Tour presented by The Maryland Lottery, Goodwill, Window Nation and the Restaurant Association of Maryland took us to a place we hadn’t been in many years – Timbuktu in Elkridge en route to see Duran Duran at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Nile Rodgers stole the show but Timbuktu can stick those pimentos in my ‘cake anytime.

The 22nd day of the Maryland Crab Cake Tour presented by The Maryland Lottery, Goodwill, Window Nation and the Restaurant Association of Maryland found us rocking toward The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia but en route we got thirsty at Hysteria in Columbia and made a road stop at Casey’s Crab in Laurel where the owner insisted we go with the Crabmeat Cheesesteak. We’re glad we did!

Day 19 of the Maryland Crab Cake Tour sent us back to the beach and a day of MaCO Conference and chats with politicians and leaders in Ocean City. Our crab cake at Longboard Cafe honored our pal Batman and we got wet with a local at Sinepuxent just over the Assawoman Bridge.

The sixteenth day of the Maryland Crab Cake Tour presented by The Maryland Lottery, Goodwill, Window Nation and the Restaurant Association of Maryland featured a beautiful morning drive across the Bay Bridge to spend the day in Salisbury. Mayor Jake Day & Delegate Carl Anderton were great hosts at Mogan Oyster House and a pair of after dark beers at Evolution and Burnish. Plus, the Secretary of Kindness Grace Foxwell Murdock, one of our favorite guests.

Maryland Crab Cake (and Brewery) Tour Day 15: The Food Market in Hampden and Checkerspot in Federal Hill

The fifteenth day of the Maryland Crab Cake Tour presented by The Maryland Lottery, Goodwill, Window Nation and the Restaurant Association of Maryland featured a bit of a wild card and last-minute detour to a pair of great places in Baltimore City. The Food Market was a strong #JennStrong selection and Checkerspot hit the spot as a rare “open on Monday” brewery in the region. We’ll be heading back to Hampden to explore the rest of that incredible menu.

The fourteenth day of the Maryland Crab Cake Tour presented by The Maryland Lottery, Goodwill, Window Nation and the Restaurant Association of Maryland featured an eastside “stay at home” tour for Nestor, who grew up in Dundalk and frequented Highlandtown and Essex all of his childhood. Loved taking the kids to Monument in the city and Schultz’s Crab House down toward Hawthorne. We’ll be back. Often!

Maryland Crab Cake (and Brewery) Tour Day 13: Woody’s Crab House in North East and Independent in Bel Air

The thirteenth day of the Maryland Crab Cake Tour presented by The Maryland Lottery, Goodwill, Window Nation and the Restaurant Association of Maryland featured a Saturday night trip up I-95 to bucolic North East on the upper Chesapeake for a lively night at Woody’s Crab house and a pre-closing outdoor patio beer at Independent Brewing in downtown Bel Air.
