No. 14 Al Kaline (Southern 1952) – Kaline was a two-sport athlete in south Baltimore, also playing on the football team at Southern. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and bye-passed the minor leagues, landing in the Majors in June 1953 before his 19th birthday. Known simply as “Mr. Tiger,” Kaline entered the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 1980.
