A birthday tribute to Mister Costas with Nick Triantafilos and Chuck Jacobs and Nestor on MD Crab Cake Tour
As the new Costas Inn North is set to open this month at the Timonium Race Course Grandstand, we offer a birthday tribute to Mister Costas with Nick Triantafilos and Chuck Jacobs joining Nestor on the Maryland Crab Cake Tour to story tell about his recent passing and legacy of kindness and generosity you can feel inside the walls of the legendary Dundalk location.
Costas Triantafilos was a giant of a man in my community because his presence was omnipresent. His authenticity, beauty and kindness, displayed over a lifetime, leave no words here that will ever convey. Not many folks know a community like Dundalk, a place like Costas Inn or a man like the man whose life and business was profiled by Vice just 15 months ago, capturing his absolute essence brilliantly.
Now with two great locations, it only made perfect sense to return to The Local on The Avenue at White Marsh to visit with my old soccer pal Lou Petrucci and explore the chargrilled oysters with truffle butter on a perfect 17th day of the Maryland Oyster Tour.
In the spirit of adventurous oyster exploration to educate folks about the Oyster Recovery Partnership and to celebrate 26 years of WNST Baltimore Positive with 26 oysters in 26 days in 26 ways, Day 3 of The Maryland Oyster Tour presented by Liberty Pure Solutions and Curio Wellness took us the streets of Frederick and our favorite-in-the-state Bakehouse bakery and a quick morning shot of pure adrenaline at Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar.
Marcella Knight and Eric Campbell serve Nestor first oyster of his Maryland Oyster Tour at Koco’s Pub
It’s been a rough summer for our friends at Koco’s Pub with HVAC and crazy electrical failures on the city grid. But when you’re beloved like them, the world comes in for a social media crab cake rescue on hot summer nights. Let Marcella Knight and Eric Campbell tell you about Lauraville love while they serve Nestor the first oyster of his Maryland Oyster Tour.
Bar manager Rob Vogel and Koco’s Pub owner Marcella Knight offer spiked holiday egg nog and update Nestor about the kraziness in Lauraville after winning Best Crab Cake at The Bay local festival.

As the Maryland Crab Cake Tour presented by The Maryland Lottery, Window Nation and Jiffy Lube takes us throughout the community to tell the best Baltimore Positive stories and Weis conversations, there are none better than the crab cake tales of family lore and secret recipes kept for three generations. Let Steve Pappas tell you the 50-year history history of his family crab cake and Parkville legacy.

Talking crab cakes, steaks and Colts memories with Don McCafferty at The Beaumont
When the Maryland Crab Cake Tour rolled back into The Beaumont in Catonsville, Nestor finally got the third member of the McCafferty family talking about his father’s famous restaurant in Mount Washington and his grandfather’s famous Super Bowl V title as the head coach of the Baltimore Colts. Talking crab cakes, steaks and eating local in The ‘Ville.
Spirits West owner Ric Kehoe talks softball, West Baltimore and the longest streets of rowhomes in America from Wilkens Avenue where he offers the legendary “Godfather” Italian cold cut but only if you get there early! The Maryland Crab Cake Tour rolls through the city all summer here at WNST Baltimore Positive.

The fifteenth day of the Maryland Crab Cake Tour presented by The Maryland Lottery, Goodwill, Window Nation and the Restaurant Association of Maryland featured a bit of a wild card and last-minute detour to a pair of great places in Baltimore City. The Food Market was a strong #JennStrong selection and Checkerspot hit the spot as a rare “open on Monday” brewery in the region. We’ll be heading back to Hampden to explore the rest of that incredible menu.
