As an East Baltimore lifer, Nestor Aparicio loves going to his favorite places owned by old friends. On Day 18, once he heard the Highlandtown aioli was elevated he knew he’d be seeking out his old Berkshire chum Brian Eder for some fried oysters at The Chasseur, high on the Highland Street hill at Foster.
Now with two great locations, it only made perfect sense to return to The Local on The Avenue at White Marsh to visit with my old soccer pal Lou Petrucci and explore the chargrilled oysters with truffle butter on a perfect 17th day of the Maryland Oyster Tour.
We’ve done the Maryland Crab Cake Tour from Nick’s Grandstand Grill atop the grandstand of the Timonium race course and the attached OTB a few times. So, naturally we’re back looking for Tommy! A great spot to get six on the half!

On Day 11, this was a quick stop and going back to the bull roast basics of how we learned about shucked and raw oysters at Conrad’s in Perry Hall – and trying to figure out what’s in a mignonette oyster dressing besides the zesty!

This buttery concoction from our friends at Kooper’s was delicious!
In an effort to continue to find the most creative ways oysters are being done all over Maryland, Nestor rolled to the The Gourmet at Kenilworth – a real oyster headquarters – and found the unique Chincoteague roll with oyster and crab. Winner, winner, sushi dinner in Towson!
When you think it’s cheese but it’s just that breadcrumby buttery garlicky deliciousness on a quick stop at Dylan’s Oyster Cellar in Hampden. We’ll be back to explore this gem!

We know it’s the Maryland Crab Cake Tour but Derek Frazier and Jon Sidway of Weis Markets at Honeygo in Perry Hall got Nestor distracted when the Ostroski’s delicacy arrived on the set. Wrestling with the holidays, food and family is made easier with a free Rewards ham and plenty of egg nog and good cheer. And those stuffed shrimp with the signature crab cakes!
