11. John Lowenstein

Many fondly remember his work as an analyst for Orioles games on Home Team Sports, but the Orioles outfielder’s signature moment came in a 1980 game after he was hit on the back of the head with a thrown ball while sliding into second base.

Appearing to be seriously hurt, Lowenstein was being carried off the field on a stretcher before he dramatically sat up and raised his arms in celebration as the Orioles had scored the go-ahead run on the play. “Brother Lo” would provide many more memories calling games with former broadcast partner Mel Proctor after his playing days were over.

Lowenstein’s broadcasting humor was popular with fans and the decision to part ways with him prior to the 1996 season is still criticized to this day as he severed ties with the organization.
