Not only were Orioles fans lucky to listen to the future Hall of Fame broadcaster as the legendary Chuck Thompson’s career was winding down, but Miller provided unique insight and humor while painting a vivid picture of the action on radio or television.

His imitations of Vin Scully, deceased Cubs voice Harry Caray, and late Yankees public address announcer Bob Sheppard were always favorites as Miller occasionally mixed the Spanish and Japanese languages into his broadcasts. Never one to take himself too seriously unlike many broadcasters, Miller may have been at his best during rain delays and blowouts when his shtick was not only welcomed but necessary to keep listeners or viewers.

His departure from the Orioles following the 1996 season is still a sticking point for many fans’ disenchantment with owner Peter Angelos, but his entertaining work will never be forgotten in Baltimore as he continues his career to this day in San Francisco.
